History
MEDA (Middle Eastern Dance Artists) of Louisiana was founded in July 1980 by eight ladies who wanted to learn more about and promote the art of Middle Eastern Dance. We were incorporated later that year as a nonprofit social club organization.
MEDA's goal then was to educate its members and the community about this beautiful art of dance as well as the fascinating culture. This holds true even today. MEDA's goal is still to promote dignified, quality showmanship of the art of the dance.This organization has been involved over the years in sponsoring seminars and producing shows as a vehicle for the students as well as the more polished dancers to express their love of the art.
This organization consists of talented, caring women and men who have careers and families and share the love of this music and dance form.
